I have an internet connection on my nokia n95 using internet enabled laptop(has wifi) which will work on desktop(has wifi) too using wifi and without wifi router and in very simple way.
To setup the adhoc(wifi) in the pc it will take too much time. However on mobile phone it is much simpler and then use connect to wifi on pc.

Here are the steps on n95 which will work on most wifi nokias:

On nokia:
1- Go to settings then connection then access points then options new access point
2- Choose a suitable connection name and wireless LAN on data bearer then adhoc in WLAN network mode(if you want to secure password-protected connection use WEP in WLAN security mode. I'll include a note at the end to explain this. You can choose default or whatever you want at remaining options)
3-Click back now and close settings and open home media
4-Go through the setup wizard here and choose the connection you created in step2 when asked to choose access point and no need for sharing and your done from mobile

Note:From now on when you want to use internet on nokia you turn on and off wifi using home media then share content then turn visibility to share or hide(Dont forget to choose hide when you are finished)

Leave the wifi enabled on mobile and continue with pc

On pc(Tested on windows xp but works on other operating systems):
1-Choose my network places on desktop(if you dont have it choose my computer and then my network places)
2- Click on set up a home or small office network and click next twice
3-Choose the first option(computer connects directly to internet and other computers use this computer to connect to internet) and click next
4-Choose the connection you use for internet on pc(modem, LAN, WIFI) and click next and then choose wireless network connection ALONE
5-Click next five times. Wait for setup and choose the fourth choice no I do not need to run settings on other pc and finish
6-Restart your computer and you are done

Note: From now on open your internet on pc and choose start then connect to then Wireless Network Connection. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection that appeared on the toolbar near the clock and choose view available wireless network. Choose the wireless network you created on mobile and connect (enter password if you created protected connection on mobile)

Now you are finished and enter any internet required program on your mobile and choose the connection you created in mobile and enjoy surfing internet

Note: To create protected connection with password go to step2 of settings in nokia and choose WEP in WLAN security mode and then choose WLAN security settings then WEP key settings and then WEP key and type a password then ok and close the settings

It is totally developed by me
I used the mobile phone to create an adhoc connection whereas the other post used the computer to create an adhoc connection so they are not similar. I am just trying to give a simple way for internet on mobile.
Note: the one written on second page of the thread you posted was developed by me

LOL. Now this is very funny. These samples comes from Microsoft support center. Plus, there are other samples on the net like this. Plus plus, that is a "home made" tutorial. Plus plus plus, the whole problem of this type of connection, has always been the LAN. It's not the Adhoc connection problem but on what type of internet connection you're connected to.

You didn't get the idea, I'm sorry for this. I made an extended tutorial for adsl users, provided with screenshots. Can you find this tutorial on the net but for LAN connection?

Thanks for the tutorial.

Actually I am able to create and connect the ad hoc connection on my laptop.
But the thing Is I am not able to browse the web using the connection. I am getting the error "Web No Gateway reply" Hereby with the error I can understand that my Nokia E71
is not able to communicate with my LAN router. My my lan card has a Ip
address on dhcp mode, while I have assigned Static Ip to my wireless card. Yes the default gate and the DNS here are same as for the LAN. Can u help me out that?

Y my device Is not responding to gateway. and how to make It communicating
with the LAN router.

Thanx a lot. A got a question. Is the network created on the laptop safe? Will some other machine/phone be able to use the internet connection.
