I Have Nokia N82 Silver . The Firmware Version was 20.0.16 . When I updated it to version 30.0.18 . The mobile was not formatted but updated . I updated again more than 50 times but mobile did'nt format . Please help me what do i do . Sorry for my very bad English .:o

Are you trying to format the phone or the memory card?
The phone should be formatted, but the memory card will not be affected.
Did the firmware update? If it did, then the stuff that's left is on the memory card (firmware always deletes all phone memory contents). If it didn't update, then that was the problem.

mate, the n82 has something called UDP, (User Data Preservation) which means that you can update your firmware without losing any data. if you want your mobile to start from scratch, you have to format it in the settings option.

All I Was trying to say that When every nokia phone (like N95. N81 etc) is updated with Nokia Software updater (after the update ) the phone is automatically Formatted . But when I update my Nokia N82 It's firmware Updated but the phone not automaticaly formats . Please Help Me . Tell me why it happens .

just like what cennzo said with the UDP feature(first introduced in the Nokia N82) all of the data/settings will remain ..if you want to format yuor phone then do it manually.

just format ur fone urself by the using code *#7370#
then update ur fone from the updater.

Bro there's no need to format your phone ... in fact ur lucky you have UDP and dont have to instal all apps ,etc from scratch like the rest of us have to do after a firmware update ...
