Darkest Fear
In Darkest Fear, you play as Thomas Warden, a history researcher, who has just received a distressed phone call from his wife, Susan, telling him that she and his daughter are trapped in the hospital Susan works in, and where their daughter Helen is a patient. The hospital, however, happens to house a viral epidemic, causing patients to turn into hideous creatures that depend on the dark to live. So, to survive, Thomas will have to navigate around the hospital using artificial sources of light- mirrors, lanterns, and torches, to avoid being attacked in the darkness. Its funny how there's never a gun around when you need one, eh?

Throughout the game's 15 levels, the main objective is to save patients by protecting them continuously with light, although, on some levels, you'll receive secondary objectives( and the story), delivered though black and white Noir-style cut scenes, which are surprisingly well made. There isn't much detail on the characters in actual game graphics, but this allows for more spacious gaming areas. The primarily dark colours also provide a great atmosphere to play in. You'll also have to make crucial decisions during the game, which have an effect on which of the 3 different endings you can receive. This also means you'll have to play through the game several times, making a different decision on each occasion.
