AvantGo® is a free service that synchronizes specially designed mobile Web sites to your phone using a desktop or wireless Internet connection. Get news, sports, stocks, movie listings from the world's top brands. Even designate your own favorite Web sites (workout schedules, family Web sites) or RSS feeds to synchronize to your phone. Once downloaded, AvantGo content is viewable even when you are not connected.
When you register with AvantGo, you can select from more than 1,200 Web sites to download onto your handheld for viewing anywhere, online or off. You can subscribe to the New York Times and Rolling Stone and all points of view in between, all for free!
How it works:
Use AvantGo to subscribe to the sites you want to see on your PDA or smartphone, and whenever you sync your mobile device with your PC -- or connect directly with the Internet if your device is wireless -- AvantGo downloads your subscribed sites as channels that can be read anytime, anywhere.
Why you should get AvantGo '05
Perhaps you are one of the seven million people who already use AvantGo. Or maybe you were never aware you could surf the Web on your PDA while taking the bus to work. Either way, if the Internet is a part of your life, you should download the new AvantGo '05. It’s still free and easy to use, but it's now more powerful and even wireless-capable. Take some time with this tutorial and you’ll have the Web at your fingertips, right on your PDA.
Online vs. Offline Browsing
AvantGo '05 can function in either online or offline modes.
Your device is in online mode when it is:
Linked to the Web using its own WiFi, Bluetooth or other connection
Docked to a PC which happens to be online (Pocket PC only)
Connected via Bluetooth to an Internet-capable cellular phone
AvantGo's wireless features give you special capabilities that you can use when online.
For instance, you can browse any Web site in real time. You can sync your channels, change your settings on the fly, update Yahoo! mail, and lots of other neat stuff. But only, of course, if you use this latest version of AvantGo.
