The SeeThru Keyboard software from Symbitz allows text input using a radically different virtual keyboard. It is semi-transparent so you can see your application through the keyboard and the keys are much bigger making it easier to use. The keyboard is semi-transparent so the whole application display can be seen at the same time as the key legends. This keyboard doesn't stop you from seeing what you are doing. Each key is much bigger than those of the built in QWERTY pop-up keyboard. The keys are much easier to hit - making for faster typing and fewer mistakes. You can even let your fingers do the typing. The keyboard shares the central display area with the app but you can still access the app's buttons and other controls by using the WorkThru features. Draw a short line from where you wish to tap - say to press a button or to position the cursor. This keyboard appears automatically whenever text input is needed (and it automatically disappears again when the task is complete). You don't have to tap an icon to pop it up and it doesn't use up your valuable screen space. The Vowel Aligned Left (VAL) Alphabetic layout places the vowels AEIOU down the left hand edge with the other letters following alphabetically. This layout is instantly memorable with the vowels acting as mental sign posts. Sometimes it can prove tricky to place the cursor at just the right place in text to edit or insert. But with cursor navigation you can move with character precision.
