I had to hard format my N73 a while back...
do this...* + 3 + green call button and power on button...simultaneously don't press the keys one at a time and wait...it will work,but you lose everything...:lam:

I did everything same as you have explained. Previously I use to format my Nokia 7610 with the same method. But this method is not working for N73. Phone starts as usual. Only *#7370# works to SOFT FORMAT the phone. Anybody knows about HARD FORMAT...?

This method is called RESTORE ORIGINAL SETTINGS.
" *#7370# " is a method for SOFT FORMAT. Because I already have used this method.
I am looking for a method of HARD FORMAT.

First what firmware did u have? previously i have v2.xxx i cannot doing hard format using 3 button method ( *,3 and call key ) but after upgrading my firmware to v3.xxx now i can use this method. Hope this help..

You should able to use 3 button trick to format ur phone. Hmm..i wonder what is it.. did u try and hold it until u see nokia shake hand logo?

If that also doesnt work, i m sorry i didnt know how to help u solving this..eemm, maybe upgrading ur firmware will help. my firmware now is v3.0704xxx.

i hard format my n73 IE..

my phone had a full battery..
i closed my phone..
press green button [call button], number 3, and the * button, left side of number zero..
don't let go of the three button, and put the power on..
JUST DON'T LET IT GO..

then after a few seconds or a minute the phone will ask your location and that's already formated..

that's what i did to my phones.. i mean n6630, n7610 and n73..

remember, YOU MUST HAVE A FULLY CHARGE BATTERY..

for formatting-

Use three keys-3,* and green(call button) simultaneously and then press power on button. there is no code requirement. i think its work on all nokia phones.

hmm...
i tried same method on 6600 previously,
it worked, but you should do in this way..
first charge your battery, then switch off the phone, then hold the three keys (3+*+ green call key) and now in this position itself press power key(no need to hold it.).
i know it is bit difficult with two hands.. :P

Why not do the 77 codes, on, green, 3 and # then reinstall the firmware on your device and format your memory card?

problem in hard formatting your n73 phone? use this 3 combination keys...
turn off your phone, press simultenously the green key + asterisk + 3 then power it on...dont release until the nokiahands shows in...working in my n73 phone...

*#7370# is a soft format bro. the hard format is green key+3+* do this while ur phone is switch off then press this key before u turning on ur phone. but take note while u do this ur battery is fully charge. ok

Just for information not all n73 can be hard reset. Some work but some other were not. I suggest u to re-software your phone with any repair box that support BB5 Phone like n73. Better you go to service center near you.
I have Ufs-3 tornado and JAF.
I think your firmware is not 100% properly work with your phone.

turn off your fone press the turn on button, now quickly press and hold * + 3 + green key untill you see that fone is asking your location. it comes just after the Nokia handshake logo. works like charm have tried it many times on
different nokia fones.
