Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5, Ver. 5.00.30, as of Feb 13, 2009. Tested on my Nokia 5800 sw: V 20.0.012

Tutorial step by step:
1. Download
http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_50030.exe
2. When download is finished connect your phone to PC and choise "Mass storage" or "Data Transfer"
3. Run downloaded file and install Garmin Mobile XT on your Memory Card
4. After install disconnect your phone and run "GMobileXT" from your apllications
5. Go to setting/about. Find your Card ID.
6. Download and run GarminKeygen

7. Enter your Card ID in keygen and generate software unlock code.
8. Copy software unlock code into new txt document and save as SW.unl
9. Connect your phone and copy SW.unl into memcard\Garmin
10. Disconnect phone and restart it.
11. Run GMobileXT and choise AssistedGPS
12. Your Garmin Mobile XT is ready to use. All you need is maps.

Yes you must select assisted GPS. Wich maps (country) you need?

Unfortunatelly i can't test it on my 5800 as i have it installed already ... only problem is the maps ... i downloaded & installed city navigator nt 9 or something like that i copied all img i could possibly find in the installed folder ... but still nothing ...

works great, thanks. and for maps, things you need are maps (in .exe format, for example for serbia its SCGRv19.exe), GUnlocker to unlock maps instaled on your pc, and eventualy Garmin Keygen 1.5 for getting codes for unlocking maps on your cell that i dindt have to use... i did it all today and it works great!

when your phone is connected just select "Data transfer" and continue installation. ;)

The freezing is easy to duplicate if you just go to Settings --> Browse Maps ... and scroll around ... it'll freeze up (lock up) and crash.

If you have 5800 XM N95 or other symbian phone with gps, yes it is free. Only weather or traffic info are not free. If you need Croatia maps, download AdriaRoute, i'll post it tonight in new thread.

Don't browse map. :D

Works great, would recommend using a torrent to get a map, for speedwise. Anyways, weather and speed cameras are FREE as long as you have a internet package for your mobile, otherwise it will be the cost of that data.

Thanks Emir, GarminMobileXT works really great. The only thing missing was voice, after instalation (GarminXT5.00.030 and maps) there were no voices installed. I found a multilanguage pack (35Mb), installed and now I have lots of languages, all working great :)

Does the multi-language pack you found comes with multi-icon for the pointer? Can share where you find the package? Thanx in advance

You get rid of that error if u go to Settings -> Application Manager and set the "Online Certificate Check" to off. Hope this helps good luck :)

download this GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx, extract and look iont the GMobileCard\Garmin\voice, and copy the file you like on the garmin directory of your phone.

to be sure it works, create a voice folder on your garmin directory on your phone, and copy the file you want too.

Could you use Nokia Maps with this or is it "locked" to Garmin maps?

in my case i just instaled the pack in the phone and it works.....
other thing i just find out is that if i rotate the phone to the horizontal position...the garmin crashes +/- 5 seconds after i start a trip with the gps... thanks....in the standart position (vertical) it works 100%

I have a problem, after i copy the file SW.unl in Garmin directory i restart my phone, launch GMobileXT from aplications, the aplication starts but there is no AssistedGPS? The only things that appear are: 1. Purchase & go, 2. Begin free trial, 3. Enter product key and 4. Connect to a Garmin GPS.

I had the same problem, here is what you have to do:
In Aplication Manager you see the files from memory card, the file SW.unl got to have the exension unl, you will see that when you copied the file from computer yoy copied SW.unl.txt, so you have to delete the extension .txt.

I had this problem before. You should read my reply on how to solve it in the earlier post. :p

But since I am in a good mood and understand your frustration (as I'd been though it myself) here's the solution or rather what you didn't do. ;)

1) Did you generate the sw.unl file with your ID Number and place it into the /Garmin folder?

2) Please remember to RENAME the extension to be *.unl and not *.txt.

I am very sure this is the main problem you're having as you're seeing the 4 options you had mentioned earlier :D

Expired certificates? Did you follow the instructions by emir on the above post? After installing the GarminXT you need to copy the ID Tag and create a file and name it and paste it into the Garmin folder. Till this stage you would have able to get into the GarminXT without any problem. :satan:

good tutorial its is pretty much same as on s60 v3. Only u need garminxt ver 50030 or 50040 for the touchscreen support.

Please change it to GPS Assist in the menu. I was stump during that stage too earlier. :p

Click on the SIGNAL BAR then go to ENABLE button, go in and change it to USE ATTACHED/BUILT IN GPS.

And if there is no Voice folders (which is really weird) please create one and download from WebUpdater provided by Garmin website. Surprisingly mine is empty too except for American English. I copied it from my friend. :victory::victory:

I just received my new 5800 and it came with v20.2.014. I am having problem with initial setup for garmin 5.00.40, cannot tab Next on "Select text language ". Does anyone have this problem?

Does not have touch-screen support (even 5.00.40) on the NAM model of 5800 ... this is a Nokia problem because the NAM model gets recognized as "S60 Device" instead of "Nokia XpressMusic 5800" which I think Garmin will treat it like a 3rd ed. device with no touch-screen.

Install Virtual Key, or wait until Nokia fixes this in the next firmware version for the North American model. OR, if Garmin is nice enough to work around this in the next version where it can detect its model by some other means.

If so, go to the Signal Bar and click on it again.

Under the Signal Menu it will show
DISABLE
-Use Bluetooth GPS &
- USE Attached/Built In GPS

Choose the second and ENABLE it. :strain::strain:

It will then changed to the Unit ID and Signal Strength Bar.

How do u rename the swl file? In your PC? Then please rename it again in your phone. Cause although you rename it in ur pc as sw.unl it's still sw.unl.txt in ur phone. Open the file and delete the .txt extension. That should work well. :victory::victory:

You should read the previous replies in this post. I had mentioned earlier to some forumers in here. :p

OK, here's the main problem which I do faced myself initially.

Please make sure that the sw.unl file is without the *.txt extension. In other words, look for the file using your handphone and rename it. You will see a sw.unl.txt file. So delete the .txt and start the GarminXT again. This should solve your problem. :victory::victory:

You do know it runs on satellite signal right? :greetings:

So let it get it's reception from the satellite first before you start running to the hill. :p

And make sure that you are not INDOOR when you're trying this as it's not able to make a satellite link up indoor compared to outdoor. :lol:

But 5800XM got a very fast and strong receptor, so it shouldn't be any problem getting signal fast. :victory::victory::victory:

I don't think that we can use some of the 'services' in the GarminXT. :sweat::sweat:
The one which you mentioned need to be subscribed and it only available in selected areas in The States (I assume) :sarcastic:

This might be the case. As I am using an Avaxx (original set). :lol: So I have no problem with it. And so is the rest in here as they are from other countries and I don't think they have AP sets over there. :p

Juz touch on the signal bar at ur left, then u can select to " Built in gps "

trust me :cool: you forgot to rename the extension of the file.
please search the sw.unl file again using your phone rather than your PC.

Choose RENAME and you will see the extension *.txt behind it. Delete the extension to become sw.unl ONLY. :lol:

Confirm can get pass the 4 Option Menu and direct into the menu. :lol::victory::victory:

Hi, for all those who get " Expired Certificate " pop-up when during install this GarminMobileXT, juz reformat ur 5800 using the following method :

(1) Power OFF ur 5800

(2) Press n hold the key Green + Red + Camera

(3) Press n hold power ON button till the screen ask u set country... date... time...

Congratulation ! Ur phone now is already format.

Above method only work for the 5800 version 20.0.012

Why is the address so weird? Raub is the name of the building??

Tips: Always search under POI (Point of Interest rather than the address). You can find building names, road names or whatever from there. Works for me. :lol::lol: I can find Jalan Tun Razak for sure but Raub I thought it's somewhere nearby my hometown in Pahang :lol::lol:

but it goes on any meny...for example in the beginnin it goes on messages and then it shut down....in asecond time on clock....in a third time on agenda..

I used 500040 on 5800 NAM latest firmware but still stuck in language setup and only thing help is virtual key run at background (it transfer green key to next/ok/select in menu, red to exit/cancel, it also help EA game)

Still having issues, put the sw.unl in to the garmin folder on phone. I have just checked the garmin folder on the phone and it is in there as sw.unl Not sw.unl.txt but renamed it anyway hoping it just might do something. But everytime i open up garmin its still giving me the options screen and will not locate internal GPS is there something else i'm missing. Got no maps in there as yet, If anyone can point me in the right direction of any UK maps i would be grateful too.

R@tty...make sure u used the Card Id to generate the software code. even without a map garmin shud still open and locate internal gps. Go to garmin settings then "about" and ensure u copied the Card Id and not ur imei. After renaming d SW.UNL file, did u restart ur phone? Also make sure u installed the garmin support files and base map, u can install these after or b4 u installed garmin xt.

Yep used the card ID , i'm just not feeling the love from this Garmin at the moment. Really sarting to annoy me now.

3. Run downloaded file and install Garmin Mobile XT on your Memory Card
4. After install disconnect your phone and run "GMobileXT" from your apllications
5. Go to setting/about. Find your Card ID.
6. Download and run GarminKeygen

after 4 i cant do something.its goin on a screen and say to buy it try the version or put the product key.
how i go to step 5??????

Garmin takes alot of memory. make sure u have enough memory left. shut down other apps. Make sure Garmin is the only app running

hi guys plx help, I have the new firmware V 21.0.025 and after instaling garmin as it is discribed above my phone cannot open the app. does it work for you on this firmware?

it is located at tools>settings>system>REMOTE GPS...change it to assisted gps instead of bluetooth gps...this will enable your garmin mobile to use the built in GPS receiver for navigations...
if you couldnt see the assisted gps/couldn't change it...that means that your SW.UNL file still having .txt extension...then it is still considered a text file...you must save your code to all files then rename the file to SW.UNL..hope this help you..

bro..if you already run the garmin keygen..you shuld copy the code into a notepad...then save as all files and rename the it to SW.UNL...copy the SW.UNL to your memory card/Garmin/..if done corectly..you wouldnt see the buy/try page...hope this help..

Works beautifully… Now I love my Garmin, waiting so long for it…:lol::D

Thanks Emir, GarminMobileXT works really great. The only thing missing was voice, after instalation (GarminXT5.00.030 and maps) there were no voices installed. I found a multilanguage pack (35Mb), installed and now I have lots of languages, all working great :)

go to your phone settings>phone>application settings>positioning>positioning methods>then unmark bluetooth GPS...mark all the others..this will disable the "turn on Bluetooth" prompt when launching garmin..hope this help..
