It seems to be impossible to send Game or Application files via bluetooth on S40 but U can do it now by using any softs that support bluetooth file transfer protocal such as
+Minicomander, :lol:
+Bluetooth file transfer (BlueFTP), :lol:
For example, when you want to take an application from another phone
by using BFT v1.3.
Firstly, set "network access" to "not allowed" (to prevent annoying updates), then run BFT, wait 15 seconds for advertising.
Secondly, connect your phone to another phone, then go to the folder on that phone that contains your desired application. Here, you will see JAR & its RMS files. You may select them all or only JAR file then click on "Menu" and choose "Download items". This JAR file will be transferred to your selected folder on your phone ( E:/KD player/ ),however, with a new name.
(For example KD player.JAR ---> KD player_JAR)
Thirdly, exit or kill your BFT, go to the folder that contains your wantted application then rename your phone un-supported file to its original name
(KD player_JAR --> KD player.JAR). Now you can use it when you want.
Notice:
You cannot send JAR files on your phone to other phones but the other phones can take the JAR files from your phone.
If this post is previously mentioned, please move it to garbage bin (because I dont want to be complained about repeated posts)

You're true. I can download a game but cant rename it to .JAR when I'm using BFT, minicomander,.. . However, I can rename it to .JAR when I'm not using the softs. Nokia S40 phones don't support to send JAR file via bluetooth so that this may be a good solution when you want to do that.

To rename in .jar do it from phone menu. The files managers can't do that.

I tried your suggested method using BFT to transfer a jar file on my Nokia 3110c to SE K530i, but it doesn't work. I can't see any jar files (or jad files) when browsing any of the phones using BFT. I have also tried using other file manager like minicommander and BT File Manager, but all the same result, i.e., can't see the jar/jad files. So, there is no way for me to transfer the file I want from one phone to another/PC. Kindly help. Thanks.

You're misunderstanding my method. You can't send the JAD/JAR files on your phone but SE K530i can download these files from your Nokia 3110c phone. It mean that you turn on Bluetooth on your phone; run BlueFTP on the SE K530i, connect the phone to your Nokia phone, browse to the JAR/JAD folder of your phone & download them to the SE.

Yes, I understand that. That is exactly what I did, i.e., to browse the files on Nokia from SE. But the problem is I can't see any jar/jad files on the Nokia phone (either browse remotely or locally). I also can't see any jar/jad files in SE too. So, there is no way for me to download the jar/jad file in the Nokia phone from the SE phone, since I can't see the file. Please help. Thanks in advanced.

I have a Nokia 3110c too. I have tested this method on some phones such as N7210supernova, Nokia 6300, Nokia 3110c, Samsung KS380, Motorola W..., It works well. I'm very curious about ur problem but I still don't have another method to solve ur problem so far.

I have tried the opposite too and I also can't see any jar/jad files in SE from the Nokia phone.
FYI, below are what I see in BlueFTP v1.36 in SE when connecting to Nokia, i.e., browsing Nokia from SE:
* <root>
* Graphics
* Music files
* Themes
* Tones
* Video clips
* Images
* Recordings
* Receiv. files
* {66de788c-2956-11db-962d-00e08161165f}Relocated
When drill in to the folder, I only see some subfolders and image files, but can't see any jar/jad file. I tried search for all files, also can't see any jar/jad in the result list.
If I do the opposite, browsing SE from Nokia, this is what I see:
* <root>
* Phone Memory
If I navigate down to Phone Memory, I see:
* Pictures
* Music
* Themes
* Videos
* Other
* Camera album
Again, if drill down, see subfolders and some other files but not jar/jad file. Search yields the same result too.
Can you advise me what you see when you're browsing the phone? And any further suggestion to get around the problem? Thanks.

Don't U use a memory card? Where did you put your JAR files in (Gallery or Applications).
If U use a memory card, BlueFTP screen will display like this:
**<root>
* Hoang nam <my memory card title>
* Graphics
* Music files
* Themes
* Tones
* Video clips
* Images
* Recordings
* Receiv. files
Drill into my memory card:
*Applications
*eBooks
*Images
*Music
*Video clips
Open the "applications" folder:
*BlueFTP.JAR
*BlueFTP.JAD
*BlueFTP_settings_..._.rms
If U put ur JAR files in Games or Collection folders (the sub-folders of Applications folder in ur memory phone), U won't see your JAR files on SE or other phones because ur phone don't allow U to share these folders.

Hey guys I also have a s40 phone nokia 5200 and was going really crazy about how to send or receive jar files. I had been using blue ftp older version and was unable to download jar files although it was possible to see jar files from other's phone system. Then recently one of my friends introduced me to this software Liteftp which is nothing but Blueftp but with only one language support English and Blue ftp has many languages. Both are made by the same company. I got the latest version from getjar and was able to download jar files with ease. This is the same software that the thread starter has mentioned but maybe it is updated. After realising that I could only take but not send jar files I thought maybe there must be some way to send it. Then I thought why not rename a jar file from pc and then send it. But it was not feasible if you have too many apps. Double memory space just for clones. Then I came up with the idea that why not just have a renamed file of ftp and keep it in phone. Then if you need to send a jar file to someone simply send the renamed ftp to other phone and then have them use it to receive any jar files. I know many would even know this method by now. But for those who havent yet figured it out this might be helpful. Remember that when you want to send a renamed jar file send it using ftp software only and not through normal bluetooth. It will be able to be sent by bluetooth but cannot be renamed and run. But by ftp it can be renamed and run easily. So, finally a method to send and receive jar files from Nokia!!! A bit tedious but nonetheless effective. Cheers to the Medieval company for coming up with such a great product and providing it for free. Note: If you want to download this software download it from getjar only and not from the company's website (www(dot)medieval(dot)it). The reason is getjar file has 15 or 40 seconds ad when you start the app but it is ok if you dont allow network access at all. On the other hand the file from company's website has no ad waiting and you can start using instantly without waiting and is also ok if you dont allow network access. But after using it for somewhere around 10 times network access becomes compulsory and without it app wont start. Or else you will have to buy it. Enjoy guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your good comment, Coolguy123.
I had been using blue ftp older version and was unable to download jar files although it was possible to see jar files from other's phone systemDon't forget to choose your destined/received folder/drive before downloading something from other phones.
Then I thought why not rename a jar file from pc and then send it. But it was not feasible if you have too many apps. Double memory space just for clones. Then I came up with the idea that why not just have a renamed file of ftp and keep it in phone. Then if you need to send a jar file to someone simply send the renamed ftp to other phone and then have them use it to receive any jar files.Good idea! However if you send it directly via bluetooth without BLueFTP, the received phone will recognize it as a file with no extension & automatically rename it to *.EXT .
For example: BlueFTP_JAR ---> BlueFTP_JAR.EXT, use minicommander or mobyexplorer to rename it to BlueFTP_JAR, then rename it as I talked before.
If you send it via bluetooth by your BlueFTP, the received phone will get the same file as you sent. eg: BlueFTP_JAR --> BlueFTP_JAR
Wherever site you download it, you always have to spend a little time for ads.
A small trick using BLueFTP: Because we have the first 5 times using BlueFTP with no annoying ads, afterthat ads will appear in every next time. Just delete the "BlueFTP_m_configuration.rms" file in the same folder that you put your BlueFTP (by using to your PC or your friend's phone to delete it), then you will have 5 times more to use it without ads.

@ hoangnam8820011: Thanks for thanking me and your good post. This thread was really needed for nokia s40 users. Ya I know I have to select my destination folder but I was using an old version which did not support downloading of jar files. Put simply it just tried to save it as jar file on local file system which is not allowed. They developed this trick in the new version and if you ask me it is an ingenious trick. And yes I also knew that by normal sending it renames to .EXT and then couldn't be properly renamed. But, I didn't really think of renaming it using explorer. Good idea!! And about that rms file I knew I could always delete the rms file using pc but this dependency on pc was bothering me. But, I didn't know you could also delete it by using friend's phone. I thought you had permissions only to create folders and access the system. Didn't know if you could delete files as well. Will sure try out your advice. Thanks for the advice. It will be really helpful if it works.
@ zxoldyx17: Frankly speaking even I don't know why it is not allowed. Maybe Nokia wants it to be that way. I think that maybe because your explorers are jar files they can't see similar files but I am not too sure about it as a Java program can read its own source code while running. The compiler of Java which was of course written in Java had to be compiled using something and they had used the same code which they had written for compiler to compile itself. Pretty confusing I know. I had read it around a year or so back when I was studying java.
I have also started to do programming for mobile phones using java. I am till now only a beginner and can do very simple things such as a simple animation, simple game such as a maze game and keeping record of some figures like my attendance percentage in college. But I myself want to develop an application with which I can send jar files without having to use a pc to rename a jar file if such an application is not developed. I got the idea of it seeing how blueftp could see other's jar files because it was someone else's file system and not local. Which means blueftp can see other's jar files. So, why not develop an application which is made to think that it is accessing someone ele's phone and not the local system while infact it is accessing the local file system. It works more or less similar to the virtual operating system concept. The idea seems promising but farfetched and I don't even know if it is even possible or what problems may arise due to it. And also I don't have such skills right now to try to develop such an application. I will be starting with a basic file explorer and then proceed to an application like blueftp by which time I will hopefully be able to try to make that kind of application.
How I wish I could do it right now!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(
