Nokia has made it very easy to update your devices by doing it “Over The Air” (OTA). The new v.30.0.011 firmware for the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music was made available today. With Nokia’s new “User Data Preservation” system, you do not have to reinstall all of your applications and themes after updating. However, it is highly recommended that you back up your data prior updating your device. Nokia 5800XM owners will now be able to update their devices by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Go To Your Device Updates Menu
Activate your dial pad and press *#0000#

Step 2: Check for Updates

Press Options, and select Check for updates.

Step 3: Start The Update

Select Now when you see the Software update downloaded from Nokia. Install now? pop up. Nokia’s device update will download the update using your device’s default access point. I have set mine to using my home’s wifi.

Step 4: Wait for Your Device to Update

You will see a white screen with a blue update bar. Do not panic, this is normal.

Step 5: Your Are Done!

Your device will automatically restart. Your new firmware would have been installed once your device has been rebooted. You should now have the firmware v.30.0.011 on your Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

i thought the latest was v21.0.025??

the latest official fw is v21.0.025! This is latest unofficial fw.

This firmware is unofficial. Some ppl already tried it and has only fixes. No new homescreen or kinetic scrolling :(

"They" say this firmware will be official in the next few weaks (some nokia centers already have this firmware).

You can try it (flashing with Phoenix) but is always safe to upgrade with the official firmware.

I'm just tested the APAC version.

Firmware is officially out in Belgium. Use the build in OTA (over the air) feature.
This update takes much longer than the last one. Update took 2 battery bars. UDP does its work, you loose nothing.

It still seems hacked. Browser in locked folders still works and all the patches in ROMpatcher are succesfully loaded.
Seriously, it seem a lot faster! !!!!! Again... it is really faster. Rotating too.
ALRIGHT: you can set the font size to small without the icons losing their legend!! I couldnt do that before!
Music player plays a lot different, harder. It fills up the room.
For some this update will be disappointed cuz there are no visual changes. But i still think nokia did a good job in the performance. I think this firmware has a lot more changes than we can see, time will tell.

My product code is 0570196. In nokia website still v21. I didnt tried to update OTA. I will try later via wifi update. It says in other site download size 4.+mb.

The download doesn't take long, it is the actual installation that made me wait longer this time.

Update only take about 5 mins.. i agree V30 seems faster less lagg

The v30.0.011 firmware is 120MB in size... so before updating via OTA make sure ur internet is fast enuf....

What is APAC or EMEA Version? What does it stands for?

My Nokia 5800 says TYPE- RM428. Is it safe to download above mentioned updates as they say RM-356?

New firmwaer not yet available through the NSU, but through FOTA (OTA) and is a 4.2 MB. Do not be confused as to update the NSU 120 MB and thus only 4.2 MB. OTA inserted only difference between these two software while NSU inserts all new software. I am in Serbia easily done through the OTA update and newspapers in the speed and the new shortcut to the e-mail at home scren.

31.0.101 appeared before 30.0.011.what it is? what is the point?
