dotsis experts_ i installed kaspersky 6.0 then made a scan _ at 15% a TROJAN was detected but when i deleted it - my laptop rebooted then hell breaks lose!

my laptop bacame slow as a snail, i lost audio, my system registry busted! ( cant register file connections, etc..)

i was lucky to do a system restore but i dont think it solved the problem bcoz when i do a reboot, i have to close the flip then reopen it before i can use the the laptop ( if i dont close then open after it blips, only the mouse will move but i cant select/open any desktop icon )

hellpp!

it sounds complicated, dude, i think you need to format your C drive and reinstall a fresh copy of windows

thanks, but im able to use my laptop now_ only problem is : i have to open - close the flip inorder to continue using.. seems like a 'start up' problem.. after i do the 'open-close thing', everything is working.. but i really dont think this is normal

any other opinion please..

did that, removed kapersky then installed avast home ed.. still the same - 'open-close' laptop flip inorder to use the computer.. or else it starts up, the desktop appears, the mouse moves, but _ u cannot open any icon : in short, you cant use the laptop!

so, i go back to 'open-close flip method' so i can use my laptop..

helppp!

hey dude its upto u that how much u are exposed to malware ..viruses ... trojans...

norton is good but slows the pc ...sometimes only detects but no option to kill

avast...good but not too secure

kaspersky...excellent in detecting viruses but slows the pc and i hate it

avira ...now i am using this good.... detection rate and its free...u this :leaf:

trend micro... slows the pc..not good detection rate ...

bit defender ... good interface but ...slows the pc extremly...but liter than norton

nod 32 interface not good good detection rate ...u can use this too

if u want to know more see the link i am giving

I have Norton Corporate Edition... Say goodbye to all other Anti virus softwares just update and and it never needs to be registered.... Further you will be needing other utilities to solve your problems, u cant just rely on a single anti virus for all the trojans and stuff... sumtimes u need softwares that were just meant for the Specifc Virus

IF U NEED NORTON COORPORATE EDITION
PM ME
AND ADD TO MY REPUTATION
I'l upload the file in a jiffy....

thanks guys..

my laptop's been reformatted.. a friend gave me a norton 2006, i have it now.. i will consider combining other AV's but wont it conflict each other?

my friend said norton is good at 'blocking' virus/malware but didnt mention 'killing the virus/malware'.. suggestion for any 'virus/malware killer' application, anyone?

thanks

dont install any anti virus
i suggest you
just when computer gets infected just try to find out name of virus
and then find out manual virus removal tool
u can find here
http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_phone/showthread.php?t=15508&page=263

and by knowing ur prblm
i guess it wasnt any trozan and virus
it was just registry problem
as system restore didnt help

in my opinion dont install any esp. norton
it just slow down ur computer
but security is gud
but biggest problem is that once antivirus quarantine ur files or scan them
it marks print on them
so by hance ur antivirus got corrupted
then u will loose all these files and no rescue just redownload them :p
rest ur wish

You must install one antispyware also. my recomendation is ''spybot search and destry'' it is free.

go with mcafee, if you got a strong laptop, get the total protection 2007 or even internet seurity 2007 and mcafee got an antispyware too, so all in one, and if your computer is strong enough, it wont suffer anything from mcafee, regards..

waah! hu, hu, hu, they say 'two heads are better than one' but with so many of you kind enough to give advise im flattered but - im more confused..

think i'll give norton a few days 'test' but if somebody can confirm that i can combine two antiviruses, i will try..

again, thanks guys!

no, i think combining two or more antivirus will make the device very heavy and maybe something wrong will happen
